People do not want to sit and listen to speeches. They want to be in the night. A room stays awake on variation — different voices, different volumes, something to watch, the tone shifting before anyone has a chance to drift.
The fastest way to kill a reception is one person talking at the same pitch all evening. Monotone is how guests die of boredom with their eyes still open.
So the real job of a wedding MC in Vancouver is not the games or the bits. It is how many different people I can get talking into that microphone before the night is out, and how many laughs per minute I can pull out of the room. After a thousand events, that is the only thing I count.

Wedding questions
Why not just ask a friend or cousin to MC?
Because the job is harder than it looks and they only get one take. A friend with the microphone is watching the room for approval; a professional is watching it for information. If a speech runs twelve minutes long, if the kitchen is behind, if grandma needs to be seated before the entrance — that gets solved quietly instead of becoming the thing everyone remembers.
What does a wedding MC actually do on the day?
I arrive two hours before guests, walk the room with your coordinator and catering lead, confirm the run sheet, and check sound. Then I host: grand entrance, welcome, dinner cues, speeches to time, games between courses if you want them, and the dance floor. You should never once have to look around for whoever is meant to be running things.
How far in advance should I book?
As far out as you can — the more runway we have, the more we can shape the night properly, and the best dates do go first. Weddings tend to book nine to twelve months ahead, corporate three to six, and November and December are effectively gone by late summer. But here is the honest part: you can book me the day before your event. If you do, I will spend that day building your run sheet and your plan, and I will walk in the next morning ready. Your guests will assume we had been planning it for months.
Do you provide the DJ as well, or just the MC?
I bring in the DJ. I have the people I trust for it, I book them, and I host the room around them — which means one point of contact for you instead of two vendors who have never worked together. Same goes for magicians, game shows and kids entertainment. You tell me what the night needs and I put the right people in the right slots.
What do you need from the venue?
A working sound system with a wireless handheld, a spot to stand where the room can see me, and a copy of the run sheet. For game shows, add a screen and power. I am on site at least two hours before doors to sort all of it with your AV and catering teams.
Do you travel outside Vancouver?
Regularly. Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, Whistler, Vancouver Island, and the Okanagan. Travel and accommodation get quoted up front — no surprises on the invoice.
Are you insured?
Yes, and I will send the certificate straight to your venue when they ask for it. Most do.
