The Junior Program is intended for young musicians, 7 to 15 years old, who have not previously registered for the Vancouver Music Competition and who wish to experience the VMC. With this new program, the junior candidates are allowed to register solely for the first round, and present the repertoire required for their instrument and age category. They will receive comments and marks from the two adjudicators of the regional round, just like the other candidates. However, they will not proceed to the Greater Vancouver Final, even if they obtain the minimum mark required (80%).
The Junior Program is open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and students who attend school in British Columbia. Young musicians may register as junior candidates no more than two times. Candidates who have previously participated in the Vancouver Music Competition are not eligible for the Junior Program.
The registration deadline is November 23, 2007. The registration fee is $20 (non-refundable).
